We love the long holidays and everything that comes along with it. The Christmas, the weather around, freshly baked cookies and cakes, the warm smell of cinnamon and nutmeg in the air, Santa Clause, the elaborate dinners, annoying cousins, neighbors, friends and family – practically everything. But there are times when we are tired of having to be on our toes all day running around busy. We wish we could just may be relax, so boating or soak up some sun! It is no easier on the kids even.
We adults are tired of all the extra work and effort during the holidays. The kids are restless at some point of time, with nothing else left to do! No school, no dance lessons, no football practice, no swimming, just running about the entire house, teasing their younger ones and being themselves. How you wish you could calm them down or may be make them sit at some place and for once do something quietly.
What if you teach the kids a few boat themed crafts, especially if they float? You quite like the idea. The preschoolers can make colorful shapes and then glue them on construction papers to make a boat picture. With cotton balls for clouds and blue tissue paper for water, and some brown paper for the boat, they can make a picture!
Kids of 5- 7 years can make pirate ships, from cardboard milk cartons, adding a few construction papers, straws and some play dough. Sail boats from egg cartons turn out really well. If your kids are a little older, they can also make origami boats!
The kids are not only going to be engaged but learning something new at the same time. And what is even better is that, you can help them getting the thing right, which also gives you a chance to spend some fun time with your kids and take you back to the days when you used to be little kid. Happy Holidays!
